Short history:
Ultimatium started as a solo project of Matti Pulkkinen in automn 2001. First demo "Call of the Twilight" was somewhat "released" in same autums, introducing two male singers. After military service, in July 2002 Matti started to record and organize second Ultimatium's demo, "End of Darkness". And as the name says it clear, the demo brought Ultimatium out from dark and into a light. Demo was well received amongs the European netzines. Reason for this small succes was clear, starting track was sang by now Dreamtale-vocalist J. Ahola. The song "Soldier og Light" also hit the TOP40 in mp3.com's power metal-charts one day, in position 40 and all the songs got total amount of 1010 download/streams in December 2002 in mp3.com. The beginning of 2003, Ultimatium hooked up with guitarist Harri Niskanen and bassist Tuomo Juntunen and later with vocalist JT Partanen. After some technical problems Ultimatium succesfully recorded four-song demo "Follow the Star". COuple of songs was freely distributed in internet, but not for long. After the succes with song "In Winter Nights" (#6 on Mikseri.net metal charts, #39 on mp3.com PowerMetal-chart), Ultimatium signed with Mastervox Records. On October 2003 Ultimatium hit the Mastervox Studios to record their debut album "New Dawn". After recordings Ultimatium chanced the drummer and nowadays Petteri Moilanen is responsible for Ultimatium's faster performance. Ultimatium also made a music video of the song "Follow Me" with Marko Haapala.

Ultimatium recorded their second album during years 2006-2007 with two new members: Tomi Viiltola and Tony Qvick and "Hwainoo" is released 16.4.2008. Hwainoo is an ancient name for the areas residing in both sides of the Gulf of Bothnia that are these days parts of Finland and Sweden. Currently the modern name for Hwainoo is Kainuu that is still used for the eastern parts of Finland.
